A very versatile Bass amplifier that can be used as a direct amplifier or as a monitor, it has a built in equalizer, and can produce a variety of sounds. A rugged variable angle casing increases its versatility. A decent product.
The Hartke 2500 bass head is the 250-watt (250 at 4 ohms/180 at 8 ohms) version of the classic Hartke 3500A and features a newly designed dual pre-amp section with both classic transistor and tube emulation circuits, active and passive inputs, 10-band graphic EQ plus bass and treble contour controls, variable compressor and effects loop. With 250 watts of available power, the HA2500 will drive your small to mid-sized bass rig with incredible clarity and punch. The HA2500 features the new Hartke silver face chassis and includes a selectable passive or active input, tube emulation and solid-state pre-amps, variable compression, a 10-band graphic EQ and high/low frequency contour control. The XL Series provides the highest performance at every level. Each cabinet is carefully calibrated and tuned to give you a smooth, balanced response along with an articulate, high-impact attack. Equipped with custom Hartke XL aluminum-cone drivers for maximum response, the XL Series also features high-quality 3/4 inch+ 5/8 inch composite plywood construction and a shockproof metal grille. Hartke 2500: solid value
Review Date: June 11, 2010
Reviewer: Ted Gilley, Vermont
The Hartke 2500 is a 250-watt (max.) bass amp with two pre-amp settings, equalization, a high- and low-end 'cut,' compression, and master volume. Takes active or passive instruments. Effects line in/out, ground lift, fan, two speakers out. 25 lbs.
I play mine through a highly rated Schroeder 12-inch 8-ohm cab, which draws 175 watts; adding another 8-ohm speaker would draw the full 250 watts. With the single speaker, I get amazing tone and power. Of course, it helps that the Schroeder speaker is top quality.
Features: a tube-emulating pre-amp and a solid-state pre-amp. These can be employed separately or blended. The tube-type produces a fatter, old-fashioned sound. EQ sliders are efficient. Compression can be dialed in and is very helpful when playing louder and harder as it prevents sudden strong signals going to the speaker(s). The high- and low-end cut seems somewhat superfluous, being similar in function to the equalization function. But I may be wrong about that.
Strongly built cabinet, convenient handle (on side). Hartke Co. responsive to two emails. An extremely good buy.

This is about the most versatile bass amp I've ever had. It's very clean and punchy and has plenty of power. with two preamps, a compressor, a graphic eq and high and low contour controls, this amp covers it all. Hard to beat for the price.
