Alan Jackson Star Ceremony – Alan Jackson Star Ceremony Recognizes Country Superstar

July 12, 2010 By: Guitarizm Category: Gift of Guitar

Alan Jackson, one of country music’s biggest stars, was honored with the Alan Jackson star ceremony earlier this year. Since releasing his first album in 1990, Jackson has put out thirteen full length albums, with his most recent, Freight Train, hitting stores on March 30th. This most recent honor is sure to secure his place in history as a country music icon.

Although it is a great honor to get a star on Hollywood Boulevard, this is not the first major award Alan Jackson has won. Over the years, he has taken home fourteen Academy Of Country Music Awards as well as twelve Country Music Association Awards. In 2002, he won the Best Country Song Grammy for his 9/11 tribute, “Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning).”

Over time, Alan Jackson has been the recipient of numerous awards and has accomplished much, although they did not all come with formal awards. Jackson has 50-million album sales under his belt in addition to thirty-four songs that have topped the charts. He clearly has no intention of slowing down at 51 years of age, with a new record release and a big tour on the horizon..

Jackson is among a variety of music, television and film stars who have been honored with stars on the Walk Of Fame. Kenny Rogers, Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton are just a few other country artists who have stars to their names. There are even a few fictional icons on The Walk, including Rin Tin Tin and Kermit The Frog.

It may seem like there is a star for every star on The Boulevard, but it is not so easy to get your name on one. Recording companies of musicians, or production companies for actors, must campaign in favor of the star attempting to be recognized. In order to be eligible, one must have no less than five years of experience in their field and must have contributed to the community through charities.

Although many people may be aware of what he does with his extra hours, Alan Jackson has done his share of giving back. He has supported both the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital and the Red Cross. In recent weeks, he played a show to raise money for the families affected by the Upper Big Branch mining disaster.

After the ceremony making him a piece of music history, Jackson made his way to Hotel Café, a Hollywood hipster venue, to play a private show for a few dozen lucky fans. Most of the people in attendance for the 21-song set won their seats on radio contests and traveled from far and wide to be there. The rare club show featured Jackson with his eight-piece ensemble.

The Alan Jackson Star Ceremony honored an amazing musician and caring humanitarian who has had a huge impact on country music. From his hit songs to his charity work, Alan Jackson has left a positive mark in every aspect of his career. His star on Hollywood Boulevard will ensure that his contributions are remembered for generations to come. See others, like the Mel Brooks Star Ceremony, at celebrityfootage.com.
